I'm amazed at just how little I know
About anything at all. I thought I knew a lot,
I have hundreds of books on my shelf that's got to mean something,
Especially If I had read them!
Then I would know lots more, but it seems that this is my anachronism
Old-fashioned knowledge learning, juxtaposed with modern living
The time I’ve not spent reading these regimental stack tomes, Is about the same
amount of time that I’ve taken to learn the least possible
I blame the
Education system
My parents
My peers
And priest
Just about anyone else except myself
It’s all their fault that I was not diligent enough not to be lazy,
Maybe if I choose a book from the shelf, then my world may change,
Could be seen to improve and earn respect,
Well, here goes,
The Sonnets of Shakespeare,
You’ve got to start somewhere, I suppose.
I’m amazed by how little I’ve lived,
And how my achievements are not as great as others,
I have hundreds of want-to-do’s, that's got to mean something,
Especially I had done some of them,
Then I would have seen so much, but that's my displacement,
Old-fashioned travel and achievements, juxtaposed with modern sofas,
The time I’ve spent not going, and not doing, is about the same.
As I've sat and watched my life pass by,
I blame
Exacting bosses,
TV Documentaries,
TV Travel shows,
And Google Earth,
Just about everyone else except myself,
It’s all their fault that I couldn’t wrestle myself from my chair,
Maybe if I buy a ticket, then my worldview may change,
Could be seen as expanding my vista,
Well, here goes,
Bondi Beach, here I come,
You’ve got to start somewhere, I suppose.
